3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Crime Central and its service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies. These tools can remember preferences, support website features, measure traffic, reduce spam, and help understand how visitors use the website.

You can usually block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may cause some website features, including comments, subscriptions, or embedded content, to work differently or stop working.

4. Analytics and Advertising

Crime Central uses Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to understand website traffic and reader activity. Google Analytics may collect information such as your IP address, device and browser details, approximate location, pages visited, and interactions with the website. Google may use cookies or similar technologies to provide this service.

The website may use Google AdSense or other advertising services. Advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies to display, limit, personalize, and measure advertisements. Depending on your location and available controls, you may be able to manage advertising preferences or decline certain uses through a consent banner, browser settings, or Google’s advertising settings.

Google’s handling of information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.

5. Newsletter

Crime Central uses MailPoet to manage email subscriptions and deliver newsletters. When you subscribe, your name, email address, subscription status, and engagement information may be processed to send and manage those messages.

You can unsubscribe at any time by selecting the unsubscribe link in a newsletter or emailing crimecentralss@gmail.com. Crime Central may retain limited records of an unsubscribe request so that your preference can be honored.

MailPoet provides additional information about its practices in its Privacy Policy.

6. Comments and Gravatar

When you leave a comment, the website may collect the information entered in the comment form along with your IP address and browser details to help detect spam and misuse. Approved comments and the name you provide may remain publicly visible unless they are removed.

If you use an email address connected to Gravatar, an anonymized value created from that address may be sent to Gravatar to determine whether you have a profile image. If your comment is approved, your Gravatar image may appear publicly next to the comment. Gravatar is operated by Automattic.

7. Contact Forms and Topic Requests

Information submitted through the Crime Central contact form may include your name, email address, website, message, IP address, and technical information needed to process the form and prevent spam.

Crime Central also uses an embedded Google Form for case and topic requests. Information submitted through that form is processed by Google and may be associated with your Google account or other technical data, depending on the form settings and how you access it. Do not submit sensitive personal information about yourself or another person.

8. WordPress, Jetpack, and Hosting Services

Crime Central is built with WordPress and uses WordPress.com and Jetpack services provided by Automattic. These services may process technical information, cookies, IP addresses, search activity, comments, likes, subscription activity, images, and other data needed to host, secure, display, and operate website features.

Automattic explains its data practices in the Automattic Privacy Policy.

9. Embedded Content and External Links

Articles may include embedded videos, images, social-media posts, documents, forms, or other content from outside websites. Embedded content may behave as if you visited the outside website directly. Those providers may collect information, use cookies, or track your interaction with the content, especially if you are logged into their service.

Crime Central also links to outside services, including social-media platforms and Buy Me a Coffee. Crime Central does not control how those websites collect or use information. Review their privacy policies before providing personal or payment information. Crime Central does not directly receive full payment-card information for transactions handled by an outside payment provider.

10. When Information May Be Shared

Crime Central does not directly sell lists of readers’ names or email addresses. Third-party analytics and advertising providers may collect or process data under their own policies, as described above.

11. Data Retention

Crime Central keeps personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain website records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

Newsletter information may be kept until you unsubscribe. Comments may remain with the related article unless removed.
