On July 15, 2019, Megan Walthall called 911 to report that her boyfriend Brandon Dye was unresponsive. Dye was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where he later died from a drug overdose. When officers investigated the house, they found drugs, paraphernalia, and a video.
The video was recorded by Walthall and showed Dye dying from a heroin overdose. In the video, Walthall is seen laughing as she sexually abuses Dye, she then waited for at least 45 minutes before calling for help.
Walthall argues that she was also under the influence of drugs at the time and had recorded the incident so that she could show it to her boyfriend when he came down from his high. She intended to use the video to convince him to stop using heroin.
Walthall pleaded guilty to abusing an incapacitated adult, sexual battery, and two counts of possessing illegal drugs. One of the drug charges came from an incident where she provided a man drugs that led to an overdose in December 2019.
Walthall has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.
