Police in Norman, Oklahome are investigating the death of 19-year-old Margarita “Maggie” Sandoval. Sandoval has been missing since 2018 and recently her decomposing body was found in the basement of a home near the University of Oklahoma.
In May of this year, police recieved a tip to search a house in Norman for a dead body. In the basement of that home, the police found a large black box. There was liquid leaking from the box as well as insects coming from inside the box. When the officers began to smell an odor of decomposition, crime scene investigators were called. The investigators were able to identify the body as Sandoval.
The homeowneer told the police and investigators that he did not know about the body. the homeowner moved into the house in 2019 and had been allowing a friend to store items in the basement. the friend who kept belongings in the basement is a relative of Sandoval. The Norman police served a search warrant for that relative’s residence and charged him with an unrelated weapons charge.
The investigation is still ongoing and the investigators are following multiple leads, so no suspects have been named at this time.
