In June of this year, 22-year old Gabby Petito and her fiancé, 23-year old Brian Laundrie, embarked on a road trip in Petito’s white Ford van. Throughout the whole trip, Petito stayed in contact with her family up until the last week of August.

On September 1, Laundrie returned to their home in North Port, Florida. On September 11, Petito’s family reported her missing. The police went to Petito’s and Laundrie’s shared home to question him and were unsuccessful in getting information from him.

On September 17, it was discovered that Laundrie’s family had not heard from him for three days and did not know where he was. Although Laundrie is a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance, he is not wanted for a crime.

On September 19, human remains were found in Teton County, Wyoming. The description of the Petito does match the remains found; however, they are not positive it is Petito. The FBI is in the process of completing a forensic identification.

The FBI has begun to search Laundrie’s parents’ home for evidence of Brian’s involvement.
