On January 1, 2022, at approximately 3:00 am, 4-year-old Arianna Delane was shot while sleeping in bed with her grandmother, George Floyd’s sister.

The family believes that the house was targeted “Someone targeted the house. I’m not sure if they hit the right house, or what was going on — because my family, we don’t do enemies.” stated LaTonya Floyd, George Floyd’s sister. LaTonya also stated “Somebody shot it up maybe five, six times. And they hit her. The bullet hit her.

Arianna’s parents called the police and an ambulance, but it took them too long to arrive so, they took her to the hospital themselves. Arianna had to have emergency surgery. She has three broken ribs, a pierced lung, and a pierced liver.

The police have not announced any suspects or made any arrests in the case.
